Rules of 7 Card Stud Poker Game
Here we present you the 7 Card Stud rules, and we also invite you to read the online pai gow poker rules. 7Card Stud has been a popular variation in poker in the second half of last century; Texas Hold’em might have excelled in popularity in 1990 in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, which are legal poker centers in the US. However, the game has remained a “game of choice” at East Coast of America and in other countries. The game is common among people, to a greater extent, among online players. This is a popular home game as well and soul reason for this is that it can be changed to different variations which involve wild cards.
There are some rules of the game which are described here.
The game starts with a small contribution known as “ante” from all the players, the amount of contribution will depend on the stake they want to play. After this, each player is allotted three hole cards; two of which face downwards and one faces upwards. You as a player will be seeing all of your three cards. The structure of the game is described under.
Bring in Bet (Third Street)
“Third Street” is the name given to the first round because three cards are allotted to all the players. The player possessing the lowest card is required to make “bring in” bet. Its size varies according to the size of ante.
Fourth Street (2nd round of betting)
At the end of the first round, each active player in the game is allotted a card which faces upwards and this round begins with a bet from the player having highest card. He cannot be forced to make a bet as it was in the first round. The player with the highest card will either check or bet. If he checks, the next player on his left will have the option to check or bet. If the bet is made then the player calls to fold or raise the bet, If the raise is of $7 then the subsequent raises will be of equivalent amount i-e $7.
Fifth Street (3rd round)
Each player left in the game is allotted a 3rd card which faces upwards and the betting in this round, starts with the player possessing the highest card. The betting continues in clockwise order. The bet and the raise will be of at least $7.
Sixth Street (4th round)
At the start of this round one more card facing upwards is allotted to all the active players, the player with highest card starts the betting.
Seventh Street (5th round)
This is the last round of the bet and one more card is allotted to all the active players, but this time the card faces downwards. Rest of the process is same as Sixth Street. Only the player will knows which card he has received. When the players have examined all their cards, they assemble their best collection of 5 cards and show their hands because poker hand is of 5 cards. If there is only one player who made bet and others checked then the won made bet, will be the automatic winner and will not need to show his hand.
If your hand shows (4-4) 7-6-7-5 (5) then you do not have a “three pair”. The best you have here is two pairs of fives and sevens and a six kicker. It is quite possible that you have disguised your hand well because you still have 3 cards remaining in the hole and winded up with four. This is quite extraordinary by 7 Card Stud’s standards. The visible cards of yours might tell the other story but what you have hidden is a treasure. You might bet aggressively if you have such a hand and other players might get a clue from your emotions. In order to be great at this game, you definitely need to know poker strategy very well.
The Difference between Flop and Stud Games
Stud games have 5 rounds of betting (3 or 4 of which are of high level betting). Texas Hold’em has 4 levels of high betting whereas Omaha Hold’em has two levels of high betting.
Community cards are not shared with opponents in Stud and due to this you can catch other players if you are somehow trailing. It is quite common in Hold’em that a card that gives strength to your hand in the game raises strength of your opponent equally. This cancels the effect of the card and you remain where you were before. The card is unique which you catch in Stud and will only improve your situation in the game.
